    ...Guardian journalist, former Melody Maker writer and author Dave Simpson recalls in the Guardian's online music blog about the first time he saw Embrace... .. ... Embrace at the tiny Fenton pub, about 1994-5. Danny McNamara in full "I am Jeff Buckley" mode. Gave a meandering speech about how he split up with his girlfriend and why in painful personal detail, but that it was the best thing for her, really. Jaws dropped further when he went on to announce "And here she is, in the audience tonight.." Haven't been in the Fenton for a while, but suspect there might be a gaping hole where the earth swallowed the poor girl up.... .. This is known from a former friend and aquaintance of Danny NcNamra's, David Jones of Huddersfield, who like Danny was on a "dole" course studying music production at Beaumont Street Studios in Huddersfield in 1993. David Jones went on to front his own band, The Chosen One circa 1998, before moving to Manchester to study for a Ph.D in the year 2000.
